Every price here includes the captain and crew fee. Several operators in Destin advertise a charter price and then collect $100–125 an hour in cash from you on the day — on a four-hour charter that’s $400 to $500 on top, and it can nearly double what you thought you were paying. We’ve added it in and shown you the split. Every site selling these boats charges the same fee; most don’t mention it until the checkout page.
Eighteen is the ceiling for a private charter — that is a Coast Guard limit on the vessel, not an operator preference. Above eighteen the only option is buying every seat on one of the larger non-private tours, which run to 22 and 32 passengers. We price those as a full buyout so you know the number before you call.
Almost every charter in Destin is priced for the whole boat, so the per-person figure depends entirely on how many of you there are. That is why this page asks first. The exceptions are the non-private tours, which are sold by the seat.

Yes, on captained charters, for guests 21 and over. On a self-drive rental the person at the wheel cannot — Florida's limit for operating a boat is the same 0.08 as driving a car. If nobody wants that job, take a captain.
Policies vary more than prices do. One operator refunds in full with fourteen days' notice and nothing inside that; others refund with 24 or 48 hours. Destin Private Yachts specifically will not cancel on a forecast — the captain decides an hour before departure, and if he calls it off you are refunded in full. So inside the cancellation window, turning up is almost always better than cancelling.
Generally yes — most charters here are BYOB and several sell bachelorette packs, charcuterie boards and boxed lunches as add-ons. No glass on the self-drive rentals, and no grills anywhere.
